paddle board rental options:
Blue Waters Kayaking now offers a variety of rental options @ Lake Sonoma. The rentals include kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, tubes, and maybe more. They are reasonably priced, and this is the most convenient option if you want to be on the Lake rather then the river. They offer hourly, day and overnight rates.
Clavey Paddlesports is an awesome choice if you are looking to rent a board for the day or the weekend, and cruise up to Lake Sonoma. You pay rates for the day or weekend, load it up and go. Lake Sonoma has been my favorite place to paddle locally, as the water is always clean and warm, and you can always find an awesome glassy water cove. Pack a lunch, kick back, play around and paddle.
Sup Odyssey was awesome! Definitely where I would recommend if you are just looking to get a couple hours in. He rents the boards at a private lake in Sebastopol... the lake is shallow and warm and friendly to fall into! Not to mention he has a variety of boards right on site for you to swap out a few and play with different styles and find what is right for you. Great crew - great experience.
IF you can get away from Sonoma county - It is always amazing to paddle in Tahoe... South Lake Tahoe has a variety of places to rent boards. Hit the river and paddle into the open lake. OR find the lagoon where it is beautiful clear warm water. IF you hit the lake make sure you go out early and beat the winds! It can get crazy out there :)
IF you ask me - the BEST route to take is buy your own paddle board... inflatables are a great option for anyone who can't deal with the hassle of transporting and storing a hard board...and you can find them for as little as $300 these days! :) Completely worth it in the long run. I have had mine for over 3 years now and I use it nearly weekly all summer long and it is still holding up!
